4 Places You Can Install Motion Sensor Lights in Your Office
As a modern business owner, you want to keep your company as lean and green as possible. As part of your money-saving and environmental responsibility initiatives, you may be looking at how your office uses lighting. While using energy-saving products helps, there are also other ways you can reduce your energy consumption and costs.
For example, you may be able to install motion sensor lights in some areas. These lights come on automatically when they sense motion in an area or room; they then turn themselves off again when no motion is detected for a set amount of time. This removes a common office lighting problem where people leave lights on even when they leave a room.
What kinds of locations are suitable for motion sensor lighting in your building?
1. Toilets
If you have regular lights in your office toilets, then these lights are likely to be left on all day. Chances are that nobody will remember to turn them off at night or before weekends either. So, you may end up perpetually lighting a room that isn't used all the time.
If you install motion sensor lights in your toilets, then the light will come on in the room when someone goes in. It then turns itself off after they leave.
2. Meeting Rooms
If you have a couple of meeting rooms in your office, then these rooms may not be used all the time. If your staff forget to turn off the lights in these rooms after they have used them, then motion control lights may make these areas more energy efficient. The lights will go on when someone enters the room and go off when it is obvious that the room is empty.
3. Fire and Emergency Exit Stairs
Escape routes from your offices need to be lit if they need to be used. However, these areas of your office may be the least used places of all. Most of the time, they don't need to have a light on.
If you connect motion sensor lights to your fire doors, then the light will come on when the doors are open. The stairs will be immediately lit if someone needs to go down them.
4. Underground Car Parks and Garages
Underground parking spaces can use a lot of lights and energy. However, again, these areas aren't in constant use. They may be busy in the morning and at the end of the working day but they may be less used during the day. If you install motion sensor lights, then the parking area will be lit when someone walks or drives into it.
If you're interested in installing some motion sensor lights, call a commercial electrician. They can help you assess the best locations for the lights and install them for you.
